I grew up on a farm just outside Decatur, Nebraska. Growing up, I worked with my dad on the farm and for his construction business. My mom was a high school teacher, who was also my Mock Trial coach, and is when I first realized I wanted to practice law.
I attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha, majoring in Political Science and graduating magna cum laude before moving to Iowa City to attend law school. During law school, I was published in a journal and served on the Moot Court board. Following law school, I knew I wanted to return to the Eastern Nebraska/Western Iowa area to be close to my family and begin my legal career.
I first worked for a law firm in Sioux City, Iowa, representing individuals and businesses in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. My practice made me realize the importance of competent legal representation, and it is also where I honed my skills in the Courtroom and at the negotiation table. I then began a new path and began the Farrens Law Firm so I could better serve my clients in a way that only a small firm can, but with the experience and expertise generally associated with larger firms.
When not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am also an avid sports fan and follow the Huskers and New York Yankees to a degree that my wife seems to appreciate, but most likely merely permits. I also enjoy reading, cooking, and working in the yard - although my green thumb needs some help at times.
